A kind visitor sent me this link to a story on SamizData.net, about a photographer arrested and kept in the cells for eight hours because he could see no reason why he should give his name and address to a plastic police-totty. And yes, "police-totty" is meant to be mildly offensive. We felt it was called for. All you people with a stunted sense of humour can just get over it. Fortunately for the rest of us out here in Grumpyland, the photographer also had a video camera, and he kept it switched on throughout. The result is a telling testament to the obstinate stupidity of some (I stress, some, not all) people the moment you give them a uniform and a day-glo jacket. Watch it here. For a serious and detailed discussion about this issue and the ridiculous persecution of innocent people going about their harmless hobbies, see this article on The Register. And just for a bit of light relief, do you remember this? Of course, if this item had been filmed in the 21st Century, they'd all have been arrested under Section 44. Ah, happy days ... either on this site or on the World Wide Web. Copyright © 2010 The GOS |
